Members' Meeting  -  Christine McKechnie

Christine lives in Southolt near Eye and started making collages in 1968.

She mostly creates Suffolk landscapes; pieces depicting her garden or inspired by places she has visited on holiday. Christine was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Show in the eighties and nineties.

Christine uses Artists' Watercolours for painting her papers, and permanent white gouache when she needs to create an opaque colour.

One of the qualities of her pictures apart from being that of an extremely elaborate watercolour, is their texture and sense of depth coming from the build up of papers, from the large first sheets blocking in the composition, to smaller pieces outlining the form to the tiniest pieces showing detail.

The result of her technique, the incredible detail and materials used is stunning.
